should college students use online dating - Ddclient not updating opendns

In order for the reports to work Open DNS needs my IP address.

But my IP address is dynamic so every time it changes my reports break. I set up my Raspberry Pi to automatically update my IP address on Open DNS. Thanks so much Dave for documenting these instructions.

ddclient not updating opendns-16

Like many people I use Open DNS instead of my internet provider’s DNS.

In addition to the speed gains I get (because it’s faster than my provider’s DNS) I like to look at the reports Open DNS provides.

In terminal, I ran CONNECT: myip.CONNECTED: using HTTP SENDING: GET / HTTP/1.0 SENDING: Host: myip.SENDING: User-Agent: ddclient/3.8.0 SENDING: Connection: close SENDING: RECEIVE: HTTP/1.1 200 OK RECEIVE: Server: Varnish RECEIVE: Retry-After: 5 RECEIVE: Content-Type: text/html RECEIVE: Content-Length: 12 RECEIVE: Accept-Ranges: bytes RECEIVE: Date: Wed, GMT RECEIVE: X-Varnish: 719238977 RECEIVE: Age: 0 RECEIVE: Via: 1.1 varnish RECEIVE: Connection: close RECEIVE: RECEIVE: 199.7.158.61 CONNECT: myip.CONNECTED: using HTTP SENDING: GET / HTTP/1.0 SENDING: Host: myip.SENDING: User-Agent: ddclient/3.8.0 SENDING: Connection: close SENDING: RECEIVE: HTTP/1.1 200 OK RECEIVE: Server: Varnish RECEIVE: Retry-After: 5 RECEIVE: Content-Type: text/html RECEIVE: Content-Length: 12 RECEIVE: Accept-Ranges: bytes RECEIVE: Date: Wed, GMT RECEIVE: X-Varnish: 719239256 RECEIVE: Age: 0 RECEIVE: Via: 1.1 varnish RECEIVE: Connection: close RECEIVE: RECEIVE: 199.7.158.61 INFO: setting IP address to 199.7.158.61 for prepend UPDATE: updating prepend CONNECT: updates.CONNECTED: using SSL SENDING: GET /nic/update?

ddclient is not caching the current ip address during ubuntu boot process. Configuration of /etc/# Configuration file for ddclient generated by debconf # # /etc/daemon=300 use=web, web=myip.protocol=dyndns2 [email protected]='password' opendns_network_label # Configuration for ddclient scripts # generated from debconf on Tue Dec 27 IST 2016 # # /etc/default/ddclient # Set to "true" if ddclient should be run every time a new ppp connection is # established.

This might be useful, if you are using dial-on-demand.That line was supposed to be placed in the file "/etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf" not in your ddclient configuration file. The ddclient is an open-source dynamic IP updater client that is written in Perl.DNS requires that a name server somewhere on the Internet keep track of 'where you are' (i.e. That is, its database must always be updated to make sure your hostname always corresponds to your current IP address. Many router/modems support Dynamic DNS reporting/notification/updating directly. You can find the network label in the Settings Tab of the Open DNS Dashboard. If you have special characters in your password wrap the password in single-quotes ( ' ).
